How We Operate

Based in Boise, Idaho

Although we work in Idaho, our dogs actually come from volunteers and shelters in the South Texas area. Volunteers find abandoned, hurt, and neglected dogs, and from there, we get the dog to safety in foster care or boarding to be vetted and await their ride to Idaho.

Once they arrive in Idaho, they typically go into foster care, and we screen applicants thoroughly to find the best fit.

Meet Alabama

It all started with a dog named Alabama. We saw Alabama on a Facebook rescue post, begging for someone to save her from a high kill shelter. She had only 2 days before euthanasia. She was ill and starved, suffering alone in a shelter cell. We flew down to save her and drove her back to Idaho. We had a local non-profit offer to accept donations for her medical care from others who wanted to support her. When we met her, it was clear she had been neglected her whole life. She couldn’t walk normally as if she had been living in a crate, and appeared to have been overbred in her short life. Our veterinarian informed us she had advanced lymphoma and needed chemotherapy right away. Unfortunately Alabama passed away before completing chemotherapy, but spent her last weeks in a loving home, and died surrounded by those who loved and cared for her. In her memory, we decided to continue to save dogs from South Texas, where tens of thousands of dogs are euthanized every year. We formed our own non-profit the following year, and have saved over 350 dogs to date through networking with rescue partners, and adopting out through FBH.

In Alabama’s memory, we continue to save dogs.
