Little Pirate is 2 years old and about 27 lbs. He has lived a horrible life up until recently. He was saved with his 4 buddies from an abandoned Mexico town where the cartel took over. It took a local rescuer 3 days to gain access to go inside and rescue the dogs. He was found starving and with one eye. We don’t know what happened to his eye, but the vet determined that it doesn’t need treatment, and he does very well with one eye. Since Pirate has been in foster care with his buddies he has been SO happy. He loves wearing sweaters, cuddling up with his friends, and enjoying the little things like a nice dog bed. The video of Pirate is the first time he experienced a clean, comfy bed.
Pirate is fostered with other dogs, but seems to get overwhelmed when new dogs are introduced. For this reason we feel it is in his best interest to place him as an only dog.
Neuter, microchip, and current vaccines all included in his adoption fee.

From Pirate’s foster:
“Let’s find Pirate his furever home! I’ve been fostering him for about a month and his personality is coming out more each day. He is dog friendly and would do best with another gentle and respectful dog companion. He has shown no interest in cats, and is kid friendly. He enjoys having a ball tossed to him, playing with toys, and a gentle game of tug with the stuffies. He is all about treats and long naps. He is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. He appears to be an Aussie shepherd/heeler mix but does not possess herding instinct. He was not leash trained/fearful but we’ve been slowly working on it and his new owner will need to continue working with him on his leash skills. He has made great progress!”
